I've just invested in a ring flash to use with my Pentax DA F 100mm Macro lens. First impressions are very good, I think it will take some practice but I'm sure it's going to help me get a few more insect shots this summer.I know it is better to use a tripod for macro but I find this very restrictive and would rather be on the move. I've had a few practice shots and found setting the camera to x-sync (1/180th sec) and using manual focus with the lens set between F8-F16 at ISO100 gets pretty good results.
